Load Cell Data Acquisition Systems Built for Field Reliability
On a deep excavation site, the data logger sitting in a dusty control box often does more to determine data quality than the load cell itself. If the front-end drifts or picks up electrical noise, even a perfectly calibrated sensor gives misleading numbers. Kingmach designs load cell data acquisition hardware to handle that gritty reality—with wide sensor compatibility, signal conditioning that stays stable over temperature swings, and output options that talk to both old SCADA systems and newer cloud dashboards. Rather than pushing a closed ecosystem, we configure channels, ports, and enclosures so the system fits your existing sensors and site constraints. Support comes from a global distributor network that handles on-site tuning and replacements quickly.
Technical Detail
Kingmach’s load cell data acquisition modules convert analog strain gauge signals into digital engineering values using 24-bit ADCs, with per-channel sampling rates adjustable from 1 Hz to 1 kHz. Inputs accept standard mV/V outputs from load cells, pressure cells, and load pins, as well as 4-20 mA and 0-10 V signals from amplified sensors. Digital communication ports provide RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and Ethernet (Modbus TCP/IP) as standard, with optional CAN bus for vehicle or industrial applications. The front-end offers programmable gain, low-pass filtering, and bridge excitation of 5 V or 10 V, supporting full-bridge and half-bridge configurations. Power can be supplied from 12-24 VDC or a battery-backed solar setup for remote monitoring. Enclosures are rated IP65 to IP67, with surge protection on all terminals. Because Kingmach is a manufacturer of geotechnical instruments, the unit can be delivered pre-terminated for specific load cell models, with cable lengths and connector types matched to site drawings. Custom channel counts—from 2 to 32—and mixed input types per module are available. The open architecture means data can be pushed to third-party SCADA, FTP servers, or Kingmach’s own cloud platform. Technical support covers sensor wiring, network troubleshooting, and firmware updates, backed by a global distribution network.

Yes. The input stages accept standard mV/V signals, 4-20 mA, and 0-10 V, so they work with most strain gauge load cells, pressure cells, and load pins. We provide configuration files for common calibration factors, and you can adjust excitation voltage to match the sensor’s requirement.
With proper shielded twisted-pair cable and 120Ω termination, RS-485 typically reaches 1,200 meters at lower baud rates. For longer runs or noisy environments, we recommend the Ethernet version using fiber optic converters, which can extend the link to several kilometers.
The Ethernet module can post data via Modbus TCP to a local gateway, which then forwards it to a cloud server. Alternatively, we offer a 4G cellular option that pushes data directly to Kingmach’s cloud or a third-party MQTT broker, with configurable reporting intervals.
We can pre-load calibration coefficients and set gain/offset values at the factory if you provide the load cell datasheet. On-site, you can still re-calibrate through the web interface or Modbus commands.
Our global distributor network provides remote setup calls and, where needed, on-site assistance for wiring checks, network tests, and initial data validation. We also keep firmware updated and can push custom Modbus register maps for integration.
